Ashijam, established 2007, is an improvisional rythym trio of Drums, Bass, and Guitar. Frequently featuring other players as the occasion might present itself. At the core, Bob Boetto, Dan DeRamos and Steve Smith make up the trio. Steve Smith is on bass and capturing the events. Drums and Cymbals are played by Bob -the Drummer Boetto. On guitar Dan DeRamos brings his six and twelve strings stylings on guitar.

What is an Improvisional Trio? When we set forth on a musical journey, there are many paths. These paths might be nicely paved, dusty gravel, soaring up and out, or some paths meander around to knowherehuh, and then may just hit a wall. Through the wall and deep into nowhere comes the moment where as we don’t know what we will play in conversation to the moment. Encroaching 20 years, there has not been any regurgitation, or repeating of an idea and yet we keep stumbling upon a new. It’s perhaps great to listen to on those long drives, or painting a room. The listener can also dive into the sonics of the conversation and the spirit of the groove. It’s the before and after the moment that the listener gets to be a part of.
